Multiple Cerebral Infarction Caused by Spontaneous Subclavian Artery Dissection by Meyung Kug Kim* in Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science (OAJBS) Subclavian artery dissection (SAD) is mainly caused by aortic arch deformity, trauma, and vascular intervention. However, a spontaneous dissection that is idiopathic is very rare. Ischemic stroke can occur as a complication of SAD. Majority of ischemic strokes from previous reports of SAD have occurred in the posterior circulation area, such as the cerebellum, brainstem, occipital lobe, or cervical spinal cord. This report presents a rare case of multiple cerebral infarctions in the anterior circulation as well as the posterior circulation area of patients with spontaneous SAD; hence, the author aims to report this case with a literature review. https://biomedscis.com/fulltext/multiple-cerebral-infarction-caused-by-spontaneous-subclavian-artery-dissection.ID.000309.php To Know More About Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science Pl

Safety Patient: In Search of Autonomy by Elaine Rossi Ribeiro in Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science (OAJBS) Introduction: The participation of patients in their own safety in health services contributes to making them the protagonist of their care. Since the patient is a key player when it comes to health safety, involving him in this process is a task that must be done through coordinated efforts between institutions and health professionals. This discussion guides the research question: how can patients seek their own safety with autonomy in health services? Objective: to identify the knowledge built by the patient in their performance regarding their own safety in health services, recognizing the main measures used and difficulties in this process.  Methodology: It is descriptive research with a quantitative approach, carried out in a reference hospital in Paraná, Brazil.  Results: Fifty adult patients from a general care hospital participated in the study, observing l

Cerebellar Ataxia and Mesenteric Panniculitis-Possible Igg4-Related Disease, A Novel Presentation: OAJBS Publishers

Cerebellar Ataxia and Mesenteric Panniculitis-Possible Igg4-Related Disease, A Novel Presentation by Adel Ekladious in Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science (OAJBS) IgG4-related disease is a multi-system inflammatory disease that may affect most systems. Intracranial parenchymal disease is rare, reported only in case reports. Meeting diagnostic criteria typically requires biopsy, creating diagnostic and treatment uncertainty if biopsy not possible. We present a case of likely IgG4-related disease causing both mesenteric panniculitis and acute cerebellitis, a presentation not known to be previously documented. https://biomedscis.com/fulltext/cerebellar-ataxia-and-mesenteric-panniculitis-possible-igg4-related-disease-a-novel-presentation.ID.000307.php To Know More About Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science Please Visit: Biomedscis Are Click on:   https://Biomedscis.Com/

Stability Analysis for Quality Traits in Durum Wheat (Triticum durum Desf) Varieties under Central Ethiopia: OAJBS Publishers

Image
Stability Analysis for Quality Traits in Durum Wheat (Triticum durum Desf) Varieties under Central Ethiopia by Mekuria Temtme in Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science (OAJBS) The present study was carried out to study stability performance over three locations for quality traits in 12 genotypes (9 exotic and 3 indigenous) of durum wheat using a randomized complete block design with three replications during 2018 and 2019. Ethiopian durum wheat varieties were studied using yield and quality traits including Grain yield, TKW, Hecto-litter weight, yellow pigment content, flour protein, wet and dry gluten, and SDS sedimentation test. Some stability parameters were used to express stable genotypes in relation to five quality traits. Some genotypes were stable for one quality trait and unstable for another, indicating that the genetic factors involved in g-e interactions vary between studied quality characteristics. The study of genotypic stability showed that the recently released varie

Identifying Allostasis and Some of its Predictors in Spinning and Weaving Cotton Industry Workers: OAJBS Publishers

Image
Identifying Allostasis and Some of its Predictors in Spinning and Weaving Cotton Industry Workers by Mai Sabry Saleh* in Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science (OAJBS) Textile workers are subjected to many health hazards. Identifying risk predictors at early stage help as a predictive and preventive measure that saves workers from critical health condition in the future. Allostatic load index (ALI) is a potential indicator of complex health conditions that may result in chronic diseases if not properly managed. A sample of 75 male workers in cotton textile weaving and spinning participated in the study. They were examined clinically for their blood pressure and pulmonary functions. They completed their socio-demographic and work-related questionnaire. Blood samples were also withdrawn from the study sample to analyze some biochemical markers. ALI was then calculated for the whole sample using six parameters: cortisol, thyroid stimulating hormone, body mass index, systolic and dias

Recurrence Spared Parotid Gland in Patient Receiving Definitive Concurrent Chemo-Radiotherapy for Nasopharyngeal Cancer: A Case Report: OAJBS Publishers

Recurrence Spared Parotid Gland in Patient Receiving Definitive Concurrent Chemo-Radiotherapy for Nasopharyngeal Cancer: A Case Report by Hassani Wissal* in Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science (OAJBS) Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease caused by worms of the genus Schistosoma. Some substances are used to control the intermediate host, being a strategy to prevent the risk of infection and re-infection of the disease. According to the WHO, the recommended substance is Niclosamide; however, it presents toxicity in non-target organisms. Aqueous extracts are being increasingly studied as a potential molluscicide in combating schistosomiasis. The aqueous extract of Moringa oleifera flowers was used to evaluate the molluscicidal activity in Biomphalaria glabrata. This extract caused lethality in adult molluscs, obtaining a lethal concentration 50 = 2.37 mg/mL. In the second aqueous extract, fruits of the species Randia nilotica were used on molluscs of the species Biomphalaria pfe

Incidental Finding of Bronchogenic Cyst During Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy by Raja Wakim* in Open Access Journal of Biomedical Science (OAJBS) Background: Bronchogenic cysts are exceptional congenital malformations, mostly diagnosed in children, rarely in adults. They are usually found in an intrathoracic region. We report a rare case of an intra-abdominal bronchogenic cyst located over the gastroesophageal junction identified incidentally during a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.  Case Presentation: A 37-year-old female with a BMI of 40 kg/m2 was admitted for a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. During the procedure, a bulging lesion was incidentally identified adherent to the gastroesophageal junction. An intra-operative gastroscopy performed revealed signs of a mass effect above the GE junction and no signs of intra-gastric tumor. The decision of enucleation of the cystic lesion and abortion of the sleeve gastrectomy was taken. Approximation of the esophageal muscular layer was p
